Bridget Rilley at Hayward Gallery

The above works are by Bridget Riley. She makes 'Op Art' using the trick and flow shape.

After visiting the exhibition, I learned a lot of things. There are:

1. Artist's study: Bridget has studied various methods in terms of her works interactive relation between artist and audience. In the beginning, she studied works of Georges Seurat and changed it in his own way. The below works show her studies. Through Seurat's artworks, she realized the original colours could be changed relatively by meeting each other and then have developed it in her own way.

2. The drawing in terms of the plan: Bridget has studied the trick, colour connection and flow shape. Also, to express these, she approaches applying a mathematical formulation to her works. for example, these below drawings show her methodology. I also have to seek such studies because I need to design the connectivity with my space and objects.

3. How to Use an Object: Bridget expanded her sight and created a flow in the Trick and Painting using a basic schematic, point, line and the empty space. She created a new painting that moves, not just a stopped one. I also realized I have to think seriously about what point to take and proceed in terms of wanting to create a new painting. As Anna said, I should hold the key point in a narrow and think about the direction in which I develop it. If my concept is too broad, it ends up; no one knows what I want to convey and express the audience.

'K-ART NOW' Talk:  Yiyun Kang

Today, I went to 'The Artist's Talk: Yiyun Kang'. She is the artist who is from Korea and lives and works in London. In the artist's talk, she explained her works by the year and introduced the development concept and process.

The keywords of her work are "space, projection, experience and digital." She has been interested in connection with human experience and digital in the contemporary world. With this interest, she has created a space using the programme mapping by the projection and tried various interactive relationships with the digital experience. She wants to convey that our life and digital are one and to say "we live with digital, and we have to stay awake in the middle of it by themselves."

When I listened to Kang's talk, I felt she and I have a common point in terms of the reflective and interactive relationship. Through the direct experience in digital-based space where she makes, she gives the independence for the audience about the connection with life and digital. I also want to create a space where we can discuss with independent thoughts each other in terms of distorted view and belief. Via this talk, I realised I need the space and express with it. In addition, she has tried to find her specific method and material. I have to find the most proper method and material‌.
